Veselka, meaning Rainbow, was founded in 1971 by a handful of individuals who were committed to restoring, preserving and furthering the beautiful art of Ukrainian folk art which was brought to Canada by our forefathers. You can learn more about Veselka's history.

Veselka is a non-profit organization whose strength has always been the commitment of very hard-working parents and the sense of community created by those parents for their children.  Veselka's program of activities enriches children culturally, musically, physically and socially as they progress from the fun of younger classes to the very serious dedication of our most senior class.

Veselka has contributed to Victoria's cultural life through annual performances at Folkfest, the Greater Victoria Music Festival, DanceWorks, Saanich All One Family and through special performances such as the 1994 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremonies.  We have garnered many medals at competitions on the Lower Mainland, Dauphin, and Vegreville.  We have also entertained audiences at Seattle's Folklife, San Jose, Los Angles and Vancouver.

Many of our dancers have moved on to dance with such prestigious organizations as the Shumka Dancers of Edmonton, Kiev Ballet company, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Miami City Ballet and other professional dance companies.

We welcome all interested dancers to participate in our program.  The dozen of performances Veselka stages each year reap high raise and appreciation from our varied audiences.  Under the artistic direction of Lisa Hall, Veselka continuously reaches for excellence in its mandate to teach, promote and preserve the Ukrainian culture through dance and music.  Click here for registration info.
